Privacy Policy
The short version. Second Take turns your speech into text on your iPhone. Your audio is never saved and never uploaded. Transcripts and scores are stored only on your iPhone, and Tighten runs on the device too. There is no account, no login, no server, no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. In App Store terms, Second Take collects no data. If you email us, we use your email only to reply.
1. Who we are

2. Microphone and speech recognition
- Only while you record. iOS asks for permission to use the microphone and speech recognition. Second Take uses the microphone only while you are recording a take, and stops when the take ends.
- On your device. Your speech is turned into text on your iPhone by Apple's speech framework. The audio is not sent to us, and Second Take does not send it to anyone else.
- Audio is never saved. The sound of your voice is processed as you speak and then discarded. Second Take does not store recordings.
- The speech model. The first time you record, iOS may need to download Apple's English speech model from Apple. That download comes from Apple to your iPhone; it does not include anything you have said.
You can turn off microphone or speech recognition access at any time in the iPhone Settings app. Second Take can't record without them.
3. What's stored on your iPhone
To show your results, history, chart and streak, Second Take stores the following only on your iPhone, in the app's private storage:
- the text transcripts of your takes, and the prompts you answered;
- your scores and counts (Sharpness, words, time, pace, fillers, hedges and pauses);
- questions you type into Prep mode, your custom crutch words and your settings, such as the reminder time.
We can't see any of this. It is not uploaded to us and we have no way to access it. If you have a device backup turned on, such as iCloud Backup, iOS may include this data in your own backup, which Apple holds under its own terms on your behalf.
Share cards. When you share a compare card, Second Take draws an image on your iPhone that shows the prompt and your numbers, never audio or your transcript, and hands it to the iOS share sheet. You decide where it goes. The app keeps a temporary copy of the latest card image on your iPhone so the share sheet can use it.
Deleting your data. In the app, open Settings and tap Delete all data. This removes every session, take and setting from your iPhone and can't be undone. Deleting the app also removes its data from your iPhone. Copies already in your own device backups follow your backup settings.
4. Tighten and Apple Intelligence
Tighten uses Apple's on-device language model (Apple Intelligence, through Apple's Foundation Models framework) to rewrite your transcript at about half the length and to name the main point. The rewrite happens on your iPhone. The text is not sent to us or to anyone else, and we don't use it to train any model.
Tighten works only on iPhones that support Apple Intelligence, with it turned on. On other iPhones, Second Take offers Clean Cut, which removes fillers and hedges from your transcript using rules that run in the app.
5. What we don't collect
Through the app we do not collect, receive or store:
- audio recordings or transcripts;
- your name, email address, phone number or any account details (there is no account);
- contacts, photos, location or calendar data;
- device identifiers or advertising identifiers;
- usage analytics, crash reports from our own tools, or diagnostics;
- anything for advertising or tracking.
Second Take has no servers of its own and contains no third-party analytics, advertising or tracking software. We do not sell or rent personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising.
6. Notifications
If you turn on the daily reminder, iOS asks for permission to send notifications. The reminder is a local notification scheduled on your iPhone. It doesn't go through any server and we don't receive anything when you turn it on, off, or open it. You can turn it off in the app or in the iPhone Settings app.
7. Purchases
Second Take Pro is sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment under its own terms and privacy policy. We do not receive your name, payment details or Apple Account details. The app uses Apple's StoreKit on your iPhone to check whether your Apple Account has an active subscription, so it can unlock Pro and restore it on your other devices.
8. Information Apple may share with us
If you have chosen in your iPhone's settings to share analytics with app developers, Apple may provide us with aggregated, de-identified usage statistics and crash reports through App Store Connect. Apple also provides sales, subscription and download reports that do not identify you. We use this only to understand how the app performs and to fix problems. Apple's handling of this information is described in Apple's privacy policy.
9. This website
This website is static. We set no cookies and use no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. The site loads its fonts and images from our own domain.
The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which delivers and protects it. To do that, Cloudflare processes technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the pages requested, and may keep short-lived logs for security and reliability. If Cloudflare needs to check that a visitor is human, it may set a strictly necessary security cookie. We do not use any of this information to identify you. Cloudflare's practices are described in Cloudflare's privacy policy.
10. When you contact us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. Mail sent to support@getsecondtake.app is forwarded to our team's mailbox by Cloudflare Email Routing. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation. We keep support emails for up to 24 months unless you ask us to delete them sooner. You don't need to send us recordings or transcripts to get help.
Where data protection law requires a legal basis, we rely on our legitimate interest in answering your request and in running and securing this website.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, including the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and other US states with privacy laws, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict how it's used, and to appeal our decision on a request. Because the app collects no personal data, the only information we are likely to hold about you is a support email. Data in the app is on your iPhone and under your control; you can delete it at any time as described in section 3.
To make a request, email support@getsecondtake.app. We will respond within the time the law requires, and we will not treat you differently for using your rights. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined in California law.
If you are in the EEA or the UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority.
12. Children
Second Take is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, email us and we will delete it.
13. Security and international transfers
The best protection is not holding data at all, which is how Second Take is built: your transcripts and scores stay in the app's storage on your iPhone, protected by iOS. For support emails and website hosting we rely on reputable providers with appropriate safeguards. We are based in the United States, so any information you send us is processed there. Where the law requires it, transfers rely on safeguards such as the European Commission's standard contractual clauses.
14. Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. For significant changes we will give notice in the app or on this website before they take effect.
