See it

Hear every “um” you never noticed.

Your transcript comes back with every filler and hedge highlighted, plus your pace, your longest pause and a Sharpness score.

  • Fillers like um, uh, basically and you know, marked in coral
  • Hedges like just, kind of and I think, marked in amber
  • Add your own crutch words in Settings and they count every time

So, um, I basically design packaging for food brands. Ah, so it's kind of the box, like, the thing you pick up in the shop…

13fillers found in one minuteExample session

The results screen from an example session: Sharpness 58, 114 words against an aim of 80, 56 seconds at 125 words a minute, 13 fillers and 5 hedges. In the transcript below, fillers are highlighted in coral and hedges in amber.

Tighten it

Your answer, minus the waffle.

Tap Tighten and your answer comes back at about half the length, built from your own words, with the one point you were making named underneath.

  • Keeps your words and your point, drops the detours
  • Written on your iPhone by Apple Intelligence, never sent anywhere
  • Other iPhones get Clean Cut: your transcript with the fillers and hedges taken out

67%shorter, in your own wordsExample session

The Tightened screen from an example session. The 114-word first take is crossed out. Below it, the same answer in 38 words, 67% shorter: I design packaging for food brands. It's the box you pick up before you've read anything on it. The one point you were making: packaging is a salesperson that never speaks.

FAQ

Questions, answered.

Is my voice recorded or uploaded?

No. The microphone is on only while you record. Apple's speech framework turns your speech into text on your iPhone, and the audio is never saved or uploaded. Transcripts and scores are stored only on your iPhone, and there's no account. Our privacy policy has the details.

Does it work without Apple Intelligence?

Yes. Recording, the live transcript, the Sharpness score and the marked-up results don't need it. Tighten needs an iPhone that supports Apple Intelligence, with it turned on. Without it you get Clean Cut: your transcript with fillers and hedges removed and your longest sentence flagged. Second Take needs an iPhone running iOS 26 or later.

How is this different from a filler counter?

A counter tells you what went wrong. Second Take is built around saying it again, shorter: it shows you a tighter version of your own answer, you record take two while it's fresh, and the two takes sit side by side. The second take is where the practice happens.

How do I cancel?

Subscriptions are handled by Apple. Open your Apple Account subscriptions, or on your iPhone open Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current period to avoid the next charge. You keep Pro until the period ends.

What counts as a filler?

Um, uh, er, basically and literally always count. Like and actually count when they're set off by a comma or a pause, or open a sentence. So, well, right and okay count when they open a sentence. You know and I mean count when they're filling space, not doing a job in the sentence. You can add your own crutch words in Settings, and they count every time.

Hedges are marked separately, in amber: just, kind of, sort of, I think, I guess, maybe, probably, sorry and similar.

How is Sharpness scored?

Each take starts at 100 and loses points for fillers and hedges (counted per 100 words, so a long answer isn't punished just for being long), for a pace outside 130 to 170 words a minute, for pauses longer than two seconds, and for running more than 40% past the prompt's word aim. Fillers cost the most. It's a guide for comparing your own takes, not a grade.

Which languages?

English only for now.

Say it again.

One prompt a day. About a minute. Your audio never leaves your iPhone.
